There are plenty simple and quick dry throat remedies which can solve the problem immediately.

The first remedy: Drink more water
Our body needs water and everyone knows that. Very important is to understand that coffee, tea, soda, alcohol, even milk and juice is not a water. Consume water and your body will be hydrated and healthy. If you will start just for one month to drink 2-2.5 liters of water every day you will experience incredible changes in your body.
Reasons to drink water:
- cleanses the body;
- renews the skin;
- helps to lose weight;
- helps to build muscles.
Additionally water will help us to solve the problem with dry throat. Our body needs 2.5 liters of water to compensate natural loss of water with urine, breath and sweat. Proper hydration of our body will lead to health inside and outside. It is recommended to drink water whenever you feel thirsty even during the meal. It will not cause problems with digestive process. Additionally make a rule and drink 2 full glasses of water every morning on an empty stomach. This will help body to recover after 8 hours of water loss.
Even if you drink 2 liters of water a day, you may need to drink more water. In order to notice that you are drinking not enough water check if you have any of these symptoms:
- a strong smell of sweat;
- odor from the body or mouth;
- infrequent urination;
- dark urine;
- dry throat;
If you notice one or more of these symptoms you need to drink more water. As soon as you body will start getting enough water you will forget about dry throat issue.
Advice: Drink even more water during viral infections and colds or during any inflammatory process in the body.
The second remedy: Rinsing with herbs
If there is not enough saliva produced in the mouth you may experience dry throat. If mouth is dry after the long day without decent amount of water you can solve the problem by having a glass of water. However if you experience constant dry throat you should consider such a remedy as rinsing.
You can rinse your mouth with mouthwash. Such liquid for rinsing is sold in every pharmacy or supermarket. You should be very careful when you are choosing mouthwash. Read carefully the ingredients and make sure that mouthwash doesn’t contain alcohol. Alcohol containing liquids for rinsing are not suitable if you are struggling with dry throat. The best liquid for rinsing will be herbal decoction.
Herbs for throat:
- Chamomile.
- Plantain.
- Sage.
- Calendula.
- Eucalyptus.
Liquid for rinsing will help incredibly if you experience dry throat all the time. Rinsing liquid can be prepared from 1 or mixture of few herbs. Today you can buy such mixtures in pharmacies. Everything you need to do is to pour them with hot water and wait until your liquid will be of room temperature. Before using any herb make sure you are not allergic to it.
Advice: For rinsing is recommended to use only warm water. Cold or hot water is not recommended for throat.
The third remedy: Chewing gum
In order to solve problem with dry throat we can try such simple remedy as stimulation of saliva by chewing and sucking. Saliva is very important for our health. It protects mucous membranes of the mouth and throat from drying. Additionally saliva protects teeth from decay. Saliva is also protecting enamel from pathogenic bacteria and defense soft tissues from inflammation. You should check if you are having enough of saliva.
Lack of saliva symptoms:
- You feel dryness or stickiness in the mouth and throat.
- You constantly feel thirsty.
- Sores start to appear on the mucous membrane of the mouth.
- There are cracks on lips.
- You feel tingling or burning sensation on the tongue.
- You have problems with chewing and swallowing
- Sore throat.
- Very unpleasant smell from mouth.
If you have one or few of these symptoms most probably you are lacking saliva and you need to do something to help you with dry throat. The quickest way to stimulate saliva flow is chewing gum. Remember that you should only buy chewing gums which do not contain sugar otherwise you will have new problems with caries.
Advice: You can also buy some hard candy and suck it for some time. This simple trick will also stimulate saliva flow.
The fourth remedy: Change diet
Understandable that our health very much depends on our diet. If you are experiencing constantly dry throat you should seriously consider completely or partially changing your diet. You should avoid drinks with high amount of caffeine. Unfortunately you will need to shorten or stop consuming cola, coffee and strong tea. These drinks are also not recommended because of huge amount of sugar.
Salty and dry food is not recommended. Next time you want to buy some snacks for movie consider healthy snack without sugar. Some doctors advise very simple dry throat remedy which is red pepper. This spice contain an alkaloid capsaicin which provokes the secretion of saliva.
Prefer food and drinks which will help you to keep your mouth and throat moisturized. Always choose wet food and stay away from bread, chips, popcorn etc. All juices containing acid (orange and apple for example) stimulate salivation process.
Advice: Be careful with red pepper. This spice increases the secretion of body fluids, including saliva, sweat and tears.
The fifth remedy: Try saline solution
Most common reason of dry throat is breathing trough the mouth. It is happening because our nose is stuffed. Unfortunately very quickly you will feel that your throat is starting to feel irritated and dry. As soon as you will clean up nose you will immediately feel better. The best and quickest way to do it is to use saline solution.
This liquid should be in every house. Saline solution is used in case of poisoning, large loss of blood or injuries. This simple solution is disinfecting wounds and diluting drugs. And of course it is perfect dry throat remedy.
Homemade saline solution:
- Only if you have no access to sterile pharmaceutical product you can prepare it at home using only two ingredients: water and salt.
- The water should be boiled or even better distilled.
- It is better to use sea salt. Of course if you do not have sea salt you can use just your usual salt.
- In order to prepare saline solution similar to the pharmaceutical product we need to achieve same salt concentration.
- Take 1 liter of warm water and dilute in it 1 teaspoon.
- Use it while it is warm.
No need to add more salt as more concentrated solution can hurt mucous. This saline solution can be used temporarily for nose washing. Using this solution clean your nose and it will moisturize not only nose but also throat and eliminate dryness.
Some would use sprayer for moisturizing but it will not help to clean nasal cavity. Better inhale saline solution from hand or use syringe without needle.
Advice: The only contraindication for this remedy is often nasal bleeding.
